4 N o v e m b e r 2 0 1 8 www.ClintonTwpNewsletter.com W i n T e r m a i n T e n a n C e T i p f o r y o u r h o m e by Anne Thornton, President, MSI Plumbing & Remodeling Get your home ready for winter with these easy tips! • Remove screens from windows and install storm windows (helps reduce the cost to heat your home and prevents window sills from rotting). • Clean out gutters and downspouts (helps keeps ice dams from forming). • Insulate pipes in your home's crawl spaces and attic (keeps pipes from freezing; the more insulation, the better!). • Store firewood at least 30 feet away from your home (reduces chance of fire and termites). • Familiarize responsible family members with the gas main valve and other appliance valves (if you are not sure, have a plumber come out to teach you). • Clean the clothes dryer exhaust duct, damper and space under the dryer (lint build up causes fires!). • Check the attic for adequate ventilation (check exterior wall to be sure ceiling insulation is not blocking outside air from soffit vents). • Clean the kitchen exhaust hood and air filter (keeping the hood clean of cooking grease helps keep a stovetop fire from spreading). • Check the water hoses on the clothes washer, refrigerator icemaker and dishwasher for cracks and bubbles (replace any hoses that show signs of leaking). • Test all ground-fault-circuit-interrupter (GFCI) outlets (these should be tripped and reset once a month; if they do not trip or reset, have the outlet changed by a qualified electrician). Marketspace Vendor Events joins The Red Mill Museum Village's 9th annual Festival of Trees in 2018 to bring you the Winter Village at The Red Mill. This German-style outdoor, tented and heated, winter craft market in the heart of Clinton, New Jersey features 40 local craft artisans, vintage peddlers, and food trucks. The Red Mill Museum Village's annual Festival of Trees is comprised of a decorated tree and wreath silent auction fundraiser benefiting the museum's preservation. Guests are invited to tour 12 historic buildings on the beautifully decorated grounds of the museum while enjoying performances by Clinton's 'Dickens Days' theatrical carolers. A general admission fee of $5 (free to museum members and children ages 6 and under) will be retained by the museum for guests entering the festival and winter village. Food trucks will be available on-site. This event is family-friendly. After visiting our German-style holiday market, step back into the Victorian era in Downtown Clinton as you visit with Father Christmas, role play with Charles Dickens and Scrooge and board a horse-drawn carriage for a tour of the town. The tree lighting is a show stopper you don't want to miss. Make a day of it in Clinton! • Clinton's Christmas Parade: Friday, December 7, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Join us for the annual Christmas Parade! Clinton is filled with the holiday spirit as floats, marchers and characters alike parade through historic Clinton! • Candlelight Night: Thursday, December 13, 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Enjoy candle- lit Clinton as well as various specials in our wonderful shops in town! • Visit with Santa! Sunday, December 16, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Come and visit Santa on the Art Museum Terrace!
