The Far Side Hike: September 22, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm – Welcome Autumn with a 10-mile hike of the lesser traveled Cushetunk Trail! This is a mountainous and moderately strenuous hike with good footing. (Hiking shoes, water and lunch required). $3 fee for ages 12 and above, $1 for children 6 to 11, and FREE for children 5 and under. South Parking Lot (We'll then ride 10 minutes to the far side.) Pre-registration required, please call the office to pre- register: 908.236.6355. S I e r r a C l u b I n S e p t e m b e r September 5 (Wednesday): Wilderness Symposium at 7:00 pm. Join us for an informative discussion about various wilderness proposals including the need for wildlife corridors to connect our increasingly fragmented natural lands and current threats to our federal lands. The symposium begins with Nancy Carringer giving a lighthearted history of the Great Old Broads for Wilderness, a national grassroots organization led by women, created to preserve and protect wilderness and wild lands. Jody Alessandrine, TNC Director of Land Preservation, will give a presentation on Bobcat Alley, a natural habitat in New Jersey designed to protect our last remaining wild cats. NJ District 7 Congressional Candidate Tom Malinowski is scheduled to speak as well. We hope to see you there! I C S p r e S C h o o l p r o g r a m S C o n t I n u e t o t h r I v e The Early Education programs at ICS have been so successful that afternoon preschool sessions have been added. The 2-year-old "Little Lambs" program is a positive first school experience for your 2-year-old, in a warm, loving Catholic school environment. The program is designed to encourage independence in a fun-filled classroom environment as the teacher and support staff foster growth in all areas of development. The program is offered September through December one day a week for two hours. In January the program expands to two days each week as our Little Lambs are prepared for their 3-year-old ICS preschool experience the following school year. Afternoon sessions have also been added for the 3 and 4-year-old programs. Preschool at ICS prepares children for future learning through developmentally appropriate programs with attention to individual readiness.
