C a s a s H a w s e e k s a d V o C a t e s Every year there are more than 100,000 reports of child abuse or neglect in NJ and more than 10,000 children are removed from their homes because the Court has found it to be too dangerous for them to remain in their homes. Court Appointed Special Advocates of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties (CASA SHaW) recruit, screen, train and supervise community volunteers to act as advocates in court for children living in foster care. CASA volunteers are appointed by a family court judge to discover the best possible outcome for an abused or neglected child's future as well as make recommendations that support the child's current needs. Volunteers receive support and supervision from a trained social worker throughout the duration of their cases. Interested in becoming a CASA advocate? Visit: www.casashaw.org, call 908.689.5515, or email: info@casashaw.org. s i l V e R b e l l e s a n d b e a u s s e n i o R s i n G i n G G R o u P s t a R t s i n s e P t e m b e R ! Make new friends and put some music in your life! Do you sing in the shower? How about in the car or at church? Is music an important part of your day? It should be! People who sing are less stressed and happier in general. Come and sing with us! The Silver Belles and Beaus senior singing group begins Fall rehearsals on Thursday, September 13. There are no auditions, and you do not need to read music. If you like to sing and are available on Thursday mornings, give us a try! Membership is free. This group of spirited ladies and gentlemen is sponsored by the Hunterdon County YMCA Active Older Adult Center. We meet from 9:45 AM to 11:30 AM every Thursday morning at the Bunnvale Church, 285 Route 513, Glen Gardner. We will be preparing a seasonal program to be performed at local nursing homes and children's centers in December. It's a great feeling to share music with the community, especially during the holiday season! For more information, call Michele Collins at: 908.236.0595 or email: michelec14@comcast.net. Hope to see you in September!
