Will there be security features installed at Spruce Run School so that the other businesses do not have access to the preschool area? Will visitors to the PS be buzzed in through the front entrance as they were in the past? A: When the district has outside educationally-based organizations at Spruce Run School, we will indeed have security measures in place. Security is not a topic where information is publicly shared for obvious reasons, but rest assured that the safety of all of our students and staff is a top priority. 16. Will all school clubs and sports be available to 6th graders at Clinton Township Middle School? A: Sixth graders will be offered the opportunity to try out for interscholastic sports. We anticipate that a majority, if not all, clubs will be open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. 1 7 . W h a t w i l l b e t h e lunch times at Clinton Township Middle School, R o u n d V a l l e y S c h o o l and Patrick McGaheran School? A: Lunch times will be staggered for the three grade levels in each of the schools, and the times will be finalized this summer by the building principals and shared with our families. 1 9 . W i l l t h e d a t e s f o r Back to School Nights in the 2018-19 School Year Calendar change? A: We anticipate that there may be some adjustment to the BTSN schedules, and will be sharing those dates within the next few weeks so that our families can plan to attend. 20. Is the playground equipment at Round Valley School appropriate for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders? A: The equipment is standard elementary swings, slides, climbing walls and huge open fields for play. Round Valley School enjoys an amazing 25-acre campus! 21. When will the move take place? A: The time frame in which all the moves are to take place is from the last week in June up to August 17. 22. What company is doing the moving? A: Paramount Facility Management Solutions will project manage and conduct the moves for the district. 23. Did some teachers stay into the night to pack? A: While we can understand that some wanted to do it themselves – we are not aware of anyone who stayed into the night. We do know teachers worked very hard over the final two half-days and one-full day to prepare to move. 24. Are teachers getting paid to pack and move? A: According to the negotiated agreement between the Board and the CTEA, "one day with pay for the purpose of making the move" is required for staff members. With this, the Board is ratifying time in the 2017- 2018 school year, and approving Tuesday, August 28th for the same purpose for the 2018-2019 school year. 25. A parent night was not yet held for parents of third graders. Is there going to be one? A: While move-up days and parent nights were held, a mom registered a concern that one had not yet been facilitated for the upcoming parents of third graders at Round Valley School. Mrs. Postma immediately responded to the mother and talked about plans for a special event. She and Mr. Connolly are working to design that event; the mother wrote back saying, "Mrs. Postma is a gem!" 2 6 . I s a k i n d e r g a r t e n b a t h r o o m w a i v e r n o w n e e d e d f o r P a t r i c k McGaheran School? A: Originally we said we did not need one, because we didn't. There were five classrooms w i t h b a t h r o o m s , a n d f i v e k i n d e r g a r t e n s e c t i o n s . T h e c h a n g e i s d u e t o a s p e c i a l education class needing to move to Patrick McGaheran School to keep them with their age- comparable peers. With this, a bathroom waiver is being used to share a bathroom between two kindergarten rooms. The students will not have to travel long distances as they did at Spruce Run School. 27. Will there be a before-care program at Round Valley School? A: Yes! 30. Can you look into offering a program that allows Clinton Township Middle School students to participate in after-school sports and clubs and then go to an aftercare program? A: Yes, we are happy to explore options for this. 38. In the last CTNewsletter, it said that – "Sixth graders will be offered the opportunity to tryout for interscholastic sports. We anticipate that a majority, if not all, clubs will be open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students." What will not be available to 6th graders? A: To clarify, there is one club that Ms. Hammond believes may not be appropriate for 6th graders' participation, the Video Journalism/ Online News; she wants to talk further about it before making a final decision. That said, going to the middle school this coming year, 6th graders will find a newfound wealth of opportunities in which to participate.
