Preschool at ICS prepares children for future learning through developmentally appropriate programs with attention to individual readiness. Students receive a strong religious and academic foundation in a loving and nurturing environment. Following the formative preschool years, ICS offers a Transitional Kindergarten program that provides a curriculum tailored for the older 4-year- old and young 5-year-old. Transitional Kindergarten meets the needs of children who miss the October cutoff date for kindergarten or for children who may need just one more year to grow – academically, physically, socially, or spiritually. Kindergarten through eighth grade at ICS is filled with strong literacy programs that include Lucy Calkins and Orton-Gillingham, leveled math programs including high school level Algebra I for eighth graders, a science program that incorporates Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and hands-on STREAM activities allowing students to be creative as they take an active role in their learning process. Students also benefit from extended areas of learning including technology, Spanish, physical education, music and art. The ICS curriculum for all grades emphasizes the whole child through differentiated instruction. As students progress through the elementary years, the goal is for them to develop a strong self-esteem and a true love of learning. Immaculate Conception School in Annandale is a 2013 Blue Ribbon School of Academic Excellence and the only Catholic School in Hunterdon County. The school serves students two years old through grade eight and offers a rigorous academic program seeking to foster in each student spiritual growth, academic excellence and moral integrity.
